בעדנא ההיא אתמרע אביה בר ירבעם:
yrbem br abyh athmre hhya bedna
At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam became sick.
2
ואמר ירבעם לאתתיה קומי כען ותשתנין ולא ידעון דאת אתת ירבעם ותהכין לשלה הא תמן אחיה נביא הוא מליל עלי למהוי מלכא על עמא הדין:
hdyn ema el mlka lmhwy ely mlyl hwa nbya akhyh thmn ha lshlh wthhkyn yrbem athth dath ydewn wla wthshthnyn ken qwmy laththyh yrbem wamr
Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please get up and disguise yourself, so that you won’t be recognized as Jeroboam’s wife. Go to Shiloh. Behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said that I would be king over this people.

ותסבין בידך עסר טולמין דלחם וכסנין וזלוע דדבש ותהכין לותיה הוא יחוי ליך מא יהי לרביא:
lrbya yhy ma lyk ykhwy hwa lwthyh wthhkyn ddbsh wzlwe wksnyn dlkhm Twlmyn esr bydk wthsbyn
Take with you ten loaves of bread, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him. He will tell you what will become of the child.”

ועבדת כן אתת ירבעם וקמת ואזלת לשלה ואתת לבית אחיה ואחיה לא יכיל למחזי ארי כהאה עינוהי מסיביה:
msybyh eynwhy khah ary lmkhzy ykyl la wakhyh akhyh lbyth wathth lshlh wazlth wqmth yrbem athth kn webdth
Jeroboam’s wife did so, and arose and went to Shiloh, and came to Ahijah’s house. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were set by reason of his age.

ויי אמר לאחיה הא אתת ירבעם אתיא למתבע פתגם מנך על ברה ארי מרע הוא כדין וכדין תמליל עמה ויהי כמיעלה והיא משתניא:
mshthnya whya kmyelh wyhy emh thmlyl wkdyn kdyn hwa mre ary brh el mnk pthgm lmthbe athya yrbem athth ha lakhyh amr wyy
Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Behold, Jeroboam’s wife is coming to inquire of you concerning her son, for he is sick. Tell her such and such; for it will be, when she comes in, that she will pretend to be another woman.”

והוה כד שמע אחיה ית קל רגלאה עלת בתרעא ואמר עולי אתת ירבעם למא דנן את משתניא ואנא שליח לאתנבאה עלך פתגמין קשן:
qshn pthgmyn elk lathnbah shlykh wana mshthnya ath dnn lma yrbem athth ewly wamr bthrea elth rglah ql yth akhyh shme kd whwh
So when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, Jeroboam’s wife! Why do you pretend to be another? For I am sent to you with heavy news.

אזילי אמרי לירבעם כדנן אמר יי אלהא דישראל חלף דאפרישתך מגו עמא ומניתך למהוי מלכא על עמי ישראל:
yshral emy el mlka lmhwy wmnythk ema mgw dapryshthk khlp dyshral alha yy amr kdnn lyrbem amry azyly
Go, tell Jeroboam, ‘Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: “Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you prince over my people Israel,

ואעדתי ית מלכותא מבית דוד ויהבתא לך ולא הויתא כעבדי דוד די נטר פקודי ודהליך בתר פולחני בכל לביה למעבד לחוד דכשר קדמי:
qdmy dkshr lkhwd lmebd lbyh bkl pwlkhny bthr wdhlyk pqwdy nTr dy dwd kebdy hwytha wla lk wyhbtha dwd mbyth mlkwtha yth waedthy
and tore the kingdom away from David’s house, and gave it to you; and yet you have not been as my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me with all his heart, to do that only which was right in my eyes,

ואבאישתא למעבד מכל דהוו קדמך ואזלתא ועבדתא לך טעות עממיא ומתכן לארגזא קדמי ופולחני ארחיקתא מקביל עינך:
eynk mqbyl arkhyqtha wpwlkhny qdmy largza wmthkn emmya Tewth lk webdtha wazltha qdmk dhww mkl lmebd wabayshtha
but have done evil above all who were before you, and have gone and made for yourself other gods, molten images, to provoke me to anger, and have cast me behind your back,

בכן הא אנא מיתי בישתא לבית ירבעם ואשיצי לירבעם ידע מדע ואחיד ושביק בישראל ואפלי בתר בית ירבעם כמא דמגנדרין בגולילין עד דמסיפין:
dmsypyn ed bgwlylyn dmgndryn kma yrbem byth bthr waply byshral wshbyq wakhyd mde yde lyrbem washytsy yrbem lbyth byshtha mythy ana ha bkn
therefore, behold, I will bring evil on the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam everyone who urinates on a wall, he who is shut up and he who is left at large in Israel, and will utterly sweep away the house of Jeroboam, as a man sweeps away dung until it is all gone.

דימות לירבעם בקרתא ייכלון כלביא ודימות בחקלא ייכלון עופא דשמיא ארי מימרא דיי גזר כן:
kn gzr dyy mymra ary dshmya ewpa yyklwn bkhqla wdymwth klbya yyklwn bqrtha lyrbem dymwth
The dogs will eat he who belongs to Jeroboam who dies in the city; and the birds of the sky will eat he who dies in the field, for Yahweh has spoken it.”’

ואת קומי אזילי לביתך במיעל רגליך לקרתא ימות רביא:
rbya ymwth lqrtha rglyk bmyel lbythk azyly qwmy wath
Arise therefore, and go to your house. When your feet enter into the city, the child will die.

ויספדון ליה כל ישראל ויקברון יתיה ארי דין בלחודוהי יתכניש לירבעם לקברא חלף דאשתכח ביה פתגם דתקין קדם יי אלהא דישראל בבית ירבעם:
yrbem bbyth dyshral alha yy qdm dthqyn pthgm byh dashthkkh khlp lqbra lyrbem ythknysh blkhwdwhy dyn ary ythyh wyqbrwn yshral kl lyh wyspdwn
All Israel will mourn for him and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam will come to the grave, because in him there is found some good thing toward Yahweh, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

ויקים יי קדמוהי מלכא על ישראל דישיצי ית בית ירבעם מן דקיים יומא דין ואף דאתיליד מבכן ולהלא:
wlhla mbkn dathylyd wap dyn ywma dqyym mn yrbem byth yth dyshytsy yshral el mlka qdmwhy yy wyqym
Moreover Yahweh will raise up a king for himself over Israel who will cut off the house of Jeroboam. This is the day! What? Even now.

וימחי יי ית ישראל כמא דנאיד קניא במיא ויעקר ית ישראל מעל ארעא טבתא הדא דיהב לאבהתהון ויגלינון מעיבר פרת חלף דעבדו ית אשריהון מרגזין קדם יי:
yy qdm mrgzyn ashryhwn yth debdw khlp prth meybr wyglynwn labhthhwn dyhb hda Tbtha area mel yshral yth wyeqr bmya qnya dnayd kma yshral yth yy wymkhy
For Yahweh will strike Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water; and he will root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River, because they have made their Asherah poles, provoking Yahweh to anger.
16
וימסר ית ישראל בדיל חובי ירבעם דחב ודחייב ית ישראל:
yshral yth wdkhyyb dkhb yrbem khwby bdyl yshral yth wymsr
He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he has sinned, and with which he has made Israel to sin.”
17
וקמת אתת ירבעם ואזלת ואתת לתרצת היא עלת בסיפא דביתא ודביא מית:
myth wdbya dbytha bsypa elth hya lthrtsth wathth wazlth yrbem athth wqmth
Jeroboam’s wife arose and departed, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of the house, the child died.

וקברו יתיה וספדו עלוהי כל ישראל כפתגמא דיי דמליל ביד עבדיה אחיה נביא:
nbya akhyh ebdyh byd dmlyl dyy kpthgma yshral kl elwhy wspdw ythyh wqbrw
All Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet.

ושאר פתגמי ירבעם דאגיח קרבא ודמלך הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומיא למלכיא דישראל:
dyshral lmlkya ywmya pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla wdmlk qrba dagykh yrbem pthgmy wshar
The rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he fought and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.

ויומיא דמלך ירבעם עסרין ותרתין שנין ושכיב עם אבהתוהי ומלך נדב בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh ndb wmlk abhthwhy em wshkyb shnyn wthrthyn esryn yrbem dmlk wywmya
The days which Jeroboam reigned were twenty two years; then he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his place.

ורחבעם בר שלמה מלך על דבית יהודה בר ארבעין וחדא שנא רחבעם כד מלך ושבע עשרי שנין מלך בירושלם קרתא דאתרעי יי לאשראה ית שכנתיה תמן מכל שבטיא דישראל ושום אמיה נעמה מבני עמון:
emwn mbny nemh amyh wshwm dyshral shbTya mkl thmn shknthyh yth lashrah yy dathrey qrtha byrwshlm mlk shnyn eshry wshbe mlk kd rkhbem shna wkhda arbeyn br yhwdh dbyth el mlk shlmh br wrkhbem
Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

ועבד דבית יהודה דביש קדם יי וארגיזו קדמוהי מכל דעבדו אבהתהון בחוביהון די חבו:
khbw dy bkhwbyhwn abhthhwn debdw mkl qdmwhy wargyzw yy qdm dbysh yhwdh dbyth webd
Judah did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, above all that their fathers had done.
23
ובנו אף אינון להון כמן וקמן ואשרין על כל רמא מנטלא ותחות כל אילן עבוף:
ebwp ayln kl wthkhwth mnTla rma kl el washryn wqmn kmn lhwn aynwn ap wbnw
For they also built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

ואף נפקת ברא הוה בארעא עבדו ככל תועבת עממיא די תריך יי מן קדם בני ישראל:
yshral bny qdm mn yy thryk dy emmya thwebth kkl ebdw barea hwh bra npqth wap
There were also sodomites in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which Yahweh drove out before the children of Israel.

והוה בשתא חמישתא למלכא רחבעם סליק שישק מלכא דמצרים על ירושלם:
yrwshlm el dmtsrym mlka shyshq slyq rkhbem lmlka khmyshtha bshtha whwh
In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem;

ונסיב ית אוצרי בית מקדשא דיי וית אוצרי בית מלכא וית כולא נסיב ונסיב ית כל מגני דהבא דעבד שלמה:
shlmh debd dhba mgny kl yth wnsyb nsyb kwla wyth mlka byth awtsry wyth dyy mqdsha byth awtsry yth wnsyb
and he took away the treasures of Yahweh’s house and the treasures of the king’s house. He even took away all of it, including all the gold shields which Solomon had made.
27
ועבד מלכא רחבעם חלופיהון מגני נחשא ומני על רבני רהטיא דנטרין תרע בית מלכא:
mlka byth thre dnTryn rhTya rbny el wmny nkhsha mgny khlwpyhwn rkhbem mlka webd
King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, who kept the door of the king’s house.

והוה בזמן דעליל מלכא לבית מקדשא דיי נסבין להון רהטיא ומתיבין להון לדובא דרהטיא:
drhTya ldwba lhwn wmthybyn rhTya lhwn nsbyn dyy mqdsha lbyth mlka delyl bzmn whwh
It was so, that as often as the king went into Yahweh’s house, the guard bore them, and brought them back into the guard room.
29
ושאר פתגמי רחבעם וכל דעבד הלא אינון כתיבין על ספר פתגמי יומיא למלכי דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth lmlky ywmya pthgmy spr el kthybyn aynwn hla debd wkl rkhbem pthgmy wshar
Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

וקרבא הות בין רחבעם ובין ירבעם כל יומיא:
ywmya kl yrbem wbyn rkhbem byn hwth wqrba
There was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.
31
ושכיב רחבעם עם אבהתוהי ואתקבר עם אבהתוהי בקרתא דדוד ושום אמיה נעמה דמבני עמון ומלך אבים בריה תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bryh abym wmlk emwn dmbny nemh amyh wshwm ddwd bqrtha abhthwhy em wathqbr abhthwhy em rkhbem wshkyb
Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in David’s city. His mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess. Abijam his son reigned in his place.
